FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
:

What kind of church is Light in the Desert (LITD)?
Light in the Desert is a Southern Baptist church that seeks and promotes a personal relationship with God. We are fully committed to the truths of the Bible. We strive to communicate those truths in a relevant and understandable way for many that face real issues and are looking for answers. We have discovered that those answers are only found in a personal walk with Jesus Christ. We consider ourselves to be real people; not perfect, just forgiven sinners that have experienced a love and acceptance that we joyfully share with others.

How will I know where to go?
Our Welcome Center in the front-foyer entrance is staffed with helpful volunteers who can guide you to our Worship Center, preschool or children’s rooms. They are a great source to answer your questions about Light in the Desert, what to expect and more.

What are the worship services like?
Our weekly worship gathering takes place every Sunday morning at 10:00 am. We work hard to make sure your experience at Light in the Desert Church is one that engages Jesus and honors God. Our Sunday Gathering features many elements but the center piece of our gathering are the scriptures.  Our Pastor preaches expositionally through books of the bible with occassionally preaching series on theological topics.

What should I wear?
Whatever you feel comfortable in. People who attend Light in the Desert Church wear everything from business wear or jeans, to shorts and sandals.

Will I have to sign anything or be singled out in any way?
No. We certainly want to get to know you, but we want you to be comfortable as well. We will NEVER ask you to wear a visitor badge or stand up and introduce yourself, though there will be many who introduce themselves to you!  Even if you do fill out one of our "connection cards", we promise not to knock on your door or call you — unless you ask us to.

What do you offer for my kids?
While you enjoy a Small Group class (9:00 am) or the Worship Gathering (10:00 am), we offer opportunities of fun and learning the Bible in a variety of age-appropriate children’s ministries. We are a church that is staffed with church volunteers complete with background checks, so as to ensure your child's safety. While we expect that your children will enjoy these activities more, you are always welcome to keep them with you during the service if you prefer.

How do I connect with others?
We are convinced more than ever that the best place for spiritual growth and connecting with others is in a smaller setting of discipleship. You can get connected at 9am Sunday Small Group class, and at Bible Study on Wedneday nights at 6:30pm.  It is in these smaller settings that you will get friendship-building, encouragement, prayer, support and training.
